I like the idea of the Redskins targeting one of the Ohio State receivers on Day 2. If either Parris Campbell or Terry McLaurin are on the board and the value is right, they could be an upgrade to the offense.

And the bigger boon? They’d be reunited with their college teammate, Dwayne Haskins.

A team shouldn’t target a receiver solely based on their familiarity with a quarterback. That said, McLaurin has a great skill set, and his familiarity with Haskins is just gravy. And if the board shakes out in a way were McLaurin is the best available receiver, the ‘Skins should absolutely target him.

McLaurin is a very good receiver. He’s an all-around player with excellent special teams capabilities, route running ability, and speed. He’s a good athlete who will find open space and could end up being a very good No. 2 receiver. And, above all else, he’s a hard worker who will continue to progress the longer he is in the NFL.

McLaurin could be on the board with Washington’s first pick in the third round. If he is, and he’s the top receiver on the board, he could be a smart pick for the team. He would upgrade multiple facets of the game and could turn into a very solid player.

Of course, there may be better receivers on the board. We’ll get into that a little bit later in this piece.
