Day 2

Round 2, Pick 14: WR Deebo Samuel, South Carolina

The Redskins will need to add some quality receivers to their offense to give their new quarterback weapons to work with. Samuel would qualify. He’s a bit small (5-11) but he has excellent deep speed and route-running ability. He was a red-zone weapon thanks to his quick feet and separation skills, and during his final season at Georgia, he notched 11 touchdowns.

Samuel could be an inside/outside threat for the Redskins and will play a versatile role in their offense. He could become a steady, high-volume target for Haskins and should complement the team’s existing talent at the position fairly well.

Round 3, Pick 12: EDGE Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech

Ferguson’s lack of athletic ability could drop him further than this, but the fact of the matter is that he knows how to get to the quarterback. Ferguson posted 45 sacks during his four-year college career, so the production is there. He may have a chance to be a solid part of a rotation, and he can win at the point of attack with his strength, hands, and pass-rushing moves.

Ferguson won’t be the type of speed rusher that many Redskins fans are coveting, but he would be a good rotational player with upside to pair with Ryan Anderson. If the team likes him enough, expect him to garner consideration with their first third-round pick, provided that they don’t get a guy like Chase Winovich earlier.

Round 3, Pick 32: OL Nate Davis, Charlotte

The Redskins have shown a lot of interest in Nate Davis, and they had him come to visit the team during the draft process. He could provide competition for Ereck Flowers at the left guard position, and he has a strong, stout frame that could allow him to develop into a solid guard. He’s worth the pick at this point in the draft and may be one of the most realistic picks in this mock.
