player. 46. . Defensive Line. Mississippi State. Jeffery Simmons. 26

Chris Ballard and the Colts love athletic players on their defensive line. They also like value picks, and Jeffery Simmons would represent one.

Simmons was considered to be a potential top 15 pick in this draft class before tearing his ACL in pre-draft workouts. He may not be able to play as a rookie, but the Colts can plan to find a long-term use for him as an interior pass rushing threat on their defensive line.

Armed with two picks in the top 34, the Colts can afford to take a chance with one of them. Simmons would be a more than sensible gamble and could pay big dividends for this rising team in the AFC South.

Other Colts Draft Options

DL Dexter Lawrence, Clemson. Lawrence could be a big-bodied run stuffer but also offer some pass rushing ability for the Colts.

S Johnathan Abram, Mississippi State. The Colts could look to add one of the draft’s best safeties. Abram would fit the bill, and he’s a physical leader that should help the Colts’ defense.
