It’s looking more and more possible that the Redskins could land Dwayne Haskins. It also seems that Haskins may be the ‘Skins’ top choice at the quarterback position. It’s not hard to see why.

Haskins was a first-year starter at Ohio State, yet he was prolific. He completed 70 percent of his passes for 4,831 yards, 50 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. He flashed a very good arm and excellent accuracy. There are still questions about his overall ability to read a defense and his lack of mobility, but he should have a chance to turn into a quality NFL starter.

Haskins would have a chance to start right away for the Redskins, but he wouldn’t have to. The Redskins could let him sit to start the season while he gets more familiar with the offense and let Case Keenum handle things. Of course, it’s still more likely that Haskins would be able to win the starting job off the bat.

One more thing to note: Washington might have to trade up to get Haskins. There have been talks about them trading up to the third pick with the Jets, so keep an eye on that. But even if they don’t do that, they still could move up to another pick.

Other Redskins Draft Options

QB Daniel Jones, Duke. Haskins is probably favored over Jones at this point, but if he’s off the board, Jones could be the pick. The ‘Skins have shown a lot of interest in Jones and he has the traits to be a very good starter at the NFL level.

EDGE Montez Sweat, Mississippi State. The Redskins could look to end Sweat’s fall and draft him as the starter across from Ryan Kerrigan. They’d have to be comfortable with his medicals, but he would be an excellent complement to Kerrigan.

EDGE Brian Burns, Florida State. A fan favorite of many, Burns will get consideration as a fast player off the edge. However, he may not get a chance to be the pick because of his lack of weight and mediocre tape against the run.
