Day 3 Sleepers

WR Jakobi Meyers, NC State

Meyers is one of my favorite Day 3 receivers in this draft. A converted quarterback with good size, Meyers has quick feet and developed pretty quickly as a receiver. He should be an inside/outside threat and will have the ability to become a weapon in the slot.

The Redskins could use him as a versatile piece all over their offense. He could compete with Trey Quinn for the primary slot job early in his career and should only get better as he earns more experience.

QB Easton Stick, North Dakota State

If the Redskins want a Day 3 quarterback that could emerge as a solid NFL quarterback, look no further than Easton Stick. Stick got some solid starting experience at North Dakota State. He has good mobility, solid accuracy, and is a smart player. His arm isn’t the best, but he has the tools needed to be a solid game manager.

And for those wondering, I’m expecting Brett Rypien and Tyree Jackson to be off the board by the time the ‘Skins pick in Round 5. Of the two, Rypien would seem more likely to be available.

OL Ross Pierschbacher, Alabama

The Redskins need a backup guard/center to provide depth on their line. Pierschbacher hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but he’s a solid technician with a lot of experience at Alabama. He could emerge as a fine backup and potential starter, so he could outplay his third-round status.

WR Jalen Hurd, Baylor

Hurd was a great running back prospect at Tennessee, but he transferred to Baylor to become a receiver. He is still raw, as he’s learning the new position, but he has excellent size and strength and could be a jump-ball threat. If he can learn to separate, he will be a steal on Day 3.

S Zedrick Woods, Ole Miss

The Redskins have looked for hyper-athletic safeties in recent drafts (Troy Apke, Montae Nicholson). Woods blazed a 4.29 in the 40-yard dash at the combine and did well in other tests. So, he fits the athletic profile they have chased in recent seasons.

Woods would only be an option in the sixth round or later, and he probably shouldn’t be anything more than a special teams player early in his career. But, he fits the prototypical mold the ‘Skins have targeted at safety the past couple of years.
