Redskins 7-Round Mock: Will pick, should pick, and dark horse for every pick
Round 7, Pick 39
Will Pick: WR Terry Godwin, Georgia
A third receiver? Why not? Godwin had a solid outing at the East-West Shrine Game and was a productive member of the Georgia offense. He averaged about 16.8 yards per catch over the past two seasons, so he has the skills needed to be a solid deep threat. He’s a good route runner and at the very least, he should be a good, versatile backup.
Should Pick: S Delvon Randall, Temple
Even after selecting Amani Hooker earlier, the Redskins should consider adding Randall to the mix. The Temple product has four interceptions in each of the past three years and has very good coverage instincts. He’s not very athletic and isn’t a great downhill playmaker, but he has the tools needed to be an effective rotational player. If he’s on the board in the seventh round, the ‘Skins should consider him.
However, I don’t see it happening in this circumstance, as Randall might have a tough time making the team compared to a guy like Godwin.
Dark Horse: LB Kendall Joseph, Clemson
Joseph isn’t a particularly good linebacker and his instincts aren’t the best. Still, he was well-coached at Clemson and has some potential as a depth player and special teams guy. He could be added and developed on the practice squad, but it’s more likely that he will go undrafted.
No matter how you look at it, Washington has a lot of options. It will be interesting to see what path they take in the 2019 NFL Draft.
