Cornerback. LSU. Greedy Williams. 20. player. 55.

I’ve had this pick for what seems like a long time in my recent mock drafts. It simply makes sense for the Steelers to target cornerback help if Devin Bush is off the board, and Greedy Williams would likely be the best fit for their team.

Artie Burns hasn’t progressed much since being a first-round pick by the Steelers. Joe Haden has played well since coming over from Cleveland, but he will turn 30 in just a few days. He still may have a couple of good years left, but the team needs to invest in another strong corner to play across from him and eventually take over as the No. 1 corner.

Greedy Williams would be a sensible choice. He is a love/hate prospect in this class but he is long and has excellent athletic abilities. He displayed solid ball skills on tape and backed up his speed by posting a 4.37 time in the 40-yard dash. The combine helped to solidify him as a likely top-40 pick, and it seems probable that he will go at some point during the first round.

During his two seasons as a starter at LSU, Williams notched eight interceptions. Pairing him with Haden is a great move, as teams may be forced to target Williams if they want to avoid Haden. That could give Williams a chance to make a lot of big-time plays and strengthen the Steelers’ secondary.
