NFL Mock Draft 7.0: Giants, Patriots trade up; Redskins land defensive help
I’ve had the Falcons taking Christian Wilkins for a very long time. The fit just makes so much sense.
Wilkins is a well-rounded interior rusher who should play well at the NFL. He was a solid interior pass rusher at Clemson and did a lot to open up opportunities for the players around him. He should continue to use his solid first step and his combination of strength and quickness to win at the point of attack.
The Falcons have shown an affinity for Clemson players in the past, and they have two starters in their front seven from the school in Grady Jarrett and Vic Beasley. Adding Wilkins to the defensive line would fill a hole and afford the Falcons to add talent that they have likely scouted heavily. For that reason, Wilkins will be strongly considered with this selection.
The Falcons do have other options with this pick. They could try to trade up with the Lions to get a player like Ed Oliver if they prefer him as a defensive tackle. Or, the team could opt for an offensive lineman to help at their right tackle position. Jonah Williams, Andre Dillard, and Cody Ford would all fit the bill.
