32. player. 47. . Defensive Lineman. Mississippi State. Jeffery Simmons

If this isn’t a Patriots pick, I don’t know what is.

Mississippi State’s Jeffery Simmons was in line to be a top ten draft pick ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft. With a rare combination of size and suddenness, Simmons racked up 33.0 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks over his last two years with the Bulldogs. He was widely regarded as a top prospect.

Then he tore his ACL.

Now, Simmons’ status for the 2019 season is in doubt. But with ample time to recover and prepare for his next opportunity, Simmons should come back with the same explosion and strength that made him a force to be reckoned with at the collegiate level. And the Patriots, who have a need for disruptors on the interior and can afford to wait, will be happy to have him.
