If the Redskins end up drafting a quarterback with the 15th pick, it seems likely that Daniel Jones will be the player they end up with. There has been some talk about Dwayne Haskins or Drew Lock possibly slipping to 15, but at this point, that doesn’t seem likely.

In the past handful of drafts, we have seen quarterback values inflate, as has the importance of landing a quarterback on a rookie deal. For that reason, the quarterbacks in this draft class could go higher than many expect.

Kyler Murray is expected to go off the board with the first pick, so the Redskins won’t have a realistic chance to get him. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos are very interested in Lock, and given the other needs that they have plugged in free agency, they may be willing to take their quarterback of the future with the 10th pick.

As for Haskins, the situation is murkier there, as the New York Giants claim that they aren’t interested in him. However, teams like the Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Miami Dolphins could all target Haskins, so it seems well within the realm of possibility that the ‘Skins would have to trade up to get him.

At the end of the day, Daniel Jones could be the quarterback left on the board with the 15th pick. And the Redskins may not mind that. The team has expressed interest in Jones throughout the draft process, and general manager Doug Williams was on hand for Jones’ bowl game against Temple, where he showed off his arm talent and ceiling at the NFL level.

Hailing from a pro-style offense, Jones has very good accuracy, field vision, and mobility. He can fit the ball into tight windows and really is able to read the field well. His biggest flaws are his lack of downfield accuracy and his penchant for trying to make too much happen with his legs. With some better coaching, the latter element can be eliminated. And the arm strength issues can be overcome as well, especially since he shows great accuracy and ball placement on touch passes.

Jones has the ceiling of a Carson Wentz type player, and that’s what will likely get him drafted in the first round. He may end up being the Redskins’ top option at the position with the 15th pick, though they may like Lock to be on the board as well.
