We’re doubling up on the edge here. If Shareef Miller is a potential-packed athletic prospect, Jordan Brailford is a stout-looking, versatile rotation player who can have an impact right away. He may not have a high ceiling like Miller, but he could play a role in the Redskins defense.

Brailford played all over the defensive front at Oklahoma State. Frequently, he lined up on the edge, but he also stood up as an off-ball linebacker at times. He doesn’t have a lot of athletic ability, but he’s smart, plays hard, and has good power in his stout frame.

Brailford is a bit on the smaller side at 6-3, but he has a 250-pound frame. That allows him to win with power on the edge and should give him a chance to help in run defense and work hard to get into the backfield. He won’t blow anyone away with his athleticism, but he notched 10 sacks last year thanks largely to his strength and relentless motor.

Pairing Brailford with Miller would give the team two very different players that could find roles in the NFL. The rush linebacker position wouldn’t be in great shape if the aforementioned Smith leaves, but this would at least add depth and maybe give former second-round pick Ryan Anderson a chance to earn more playing time. Either way, Brailford is a solid pickup in the fifth because of his versatility and motor.
