2019 NFL Draft Mock 3.0: What if the Redskins traded back?
By Ian Cummings
The Houston Texans have been in need of offensive line help for quite some time. Too long, it seems. Before Deshaun Watson, the need was best conveyed by league-leading sack numbers, but now, all one has to do is watch Watson weave in and out of rushing lanes to know that, at some point, he needs some help.
Watson is already one of the fastest-rising stars in the NFL, with incredible playmaking ability at the quarterback position. With the weapon core the Texans are building on offense, imagine if Watson had more time to throw. For Houston, it’s almost a necessity that an offensive lineman constitutes this pick, and in this mock, they go for an interior blocker, deciding on Boston College guard Chris Lindstrom.
Lindstrom is a very polished blocker who should be a starter early in the NFL. Over the course of his college career, he’s made a case to be the first interior lineman taken off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft, and as I wrote in a recent seven-round mock draft, Lindstrom is widely recognized as such a talent.
"Listed as the No. 1 interior lineman in the 2019 NFL Draft by three of five Draft Network writers, Lindstrom wins with a myriad of traits, from his solid athletic profile, to his well-tuned hand placement, to his brute strength in the battles of the trenches."
While one player won’t fix a unit, the Texans could use a well-rounded, immediate starter like Lindstrom to help make life a little easier for their star quarterback, while also opening lanes for Lamar Miller in the running game.
