. Quarterback. Ohio State. Dwayne Haskins. 7. player. 52

I was torn about whether or not to mock Dwayne Haskins to the Jaguars but ultimately, I decided that it could make sense. While the Jaguars may look to add a veteran quarterback like Nick Foles, who new Jaguars offensive coordinator John DeFilippo worked with during his time with the Eagles, Haskins may be too good to pass up for them.

Haskins is coming off a prolific season for Ohio State that saw him post a ridiculous 50 passing touchdowns and really carry the team’s offense. He does have some work to do at the NFL level, particularly with his ball placement and deep accuracy, but it could be argued that he will be the best quarterback in this draft class.

I have Haskins ranked as the No. 3 passer on my initial big board behind Jones and Lock. Here’s what I said about Haskins in that piece.

"Haskins definitely made the right choice by declaring for the 2019 NFL Draft. He is in perfect position to take advantage of a weaker quarterback group and it’s quite possible that he will be the best of the players drafted. He had a prolific season in his lone year as Ohio State’s starter, completing 70 percent of his passes for 4,831 yards and a school-record 50 passing touchdowns. It’s clear that he has good size and arm talent for the next level, but he does have some things to work on."

The areas for Haskins to work on are the aforementioned issues with ball placement and the fact that he struggled at times against pressure at Ohio State. He could certainly grow out of those with good coaching, but if he proves to be inaccurate at the Combine, his stock could drop. And generally speaking, teams will likely pick Haskins apart on film a little more than the other top quarterbacks because he didn’t get a chance to perform in the college football all-star games.

Haskins would definitely give the Jaguars an upgrade over Blake Bortles, as Haskins is a much better pocket passer than Bortles. If the Jaguars don’t land Foles or Joe Flacco (who some have compared to Haskins) perhaps the Ohio State QB will be the selection here.
