30. player. 49. . Offensive Lineman. Kansas State. Dalton Risner

The Packers have three solid offensive linemen when all are healthy. Their holes come at guard, where Lane Taylor is an average performer while right guard was a problem spot for Green Bay last year. With this selection, the team will have a chance to address that problem as Dalton Risner is on the board.

Risner is an experienced and versatile offensive lineman. He played center and tackle for Kansas State, and it’s possible that he could play any position at the next level. However, I believe he’ll be better suited to play on the interior, and he should be a well-rounded player with the potential to be road-grader in the run game.

By adding Risner, the Packers would guarantee that they would improve Aaron Rodgers’ protection. Given that Rodgers is an aging quarterback coming off a couple of injury-plagued seasons, protecting him has to be at the forefront of the Packers’ mind. With two first-round picks, landing Risner along with Sweat will go a long way towards shoring up some of the Packers’ biggest weaknesses.

If Risner doesn’t appeal to the Packers, or if they view him as more of a tackle, Boston College’s Chris Lindstrom would be an option with this selection. Lindstrom also performed well at the Senior Bowl and looks like he will be a solid run blocker for the next level.
