. Cornerback. Georgia. DeAndre Baker. 20. player. 55

The Steelers will probably use this pick on the defensive side of the ball. They could use some help at inside linebacker, on the edge, and at cornerback. That said, DeAndre Baker is the most talented player on the board, so he fits the bills here.

Baker had a very good college career at Georgia, and it’s possible that he could be the first corner off the board in the draft. Baker has excellent coverage skills and opposing receivers struggled to gain significant separation from him at Georgia. He has the makings of a No. 1 corner at the NFL level, and that will intrigue the Steelers.

So far, the Artie Burns experiment has been an up-and-down one for the Steelers. He has played well at times and been benched at other times. Joe Haden has been good, but he is starting to get a bit longer in the tooth, so having some youth to eventually replace him would certainly be a good move.

With the 20th pick, Baker could end up being a steal. The Steelers need to do what they can to improve their defense, and this seems like a smart move. The team could consider Mack Wilson or Devin Bush to attempt to replace Ryan Shazier, but for now, Baker provides the superior value.
