Washington Redskins 2018 season cornerback grades

Quinton Dunbar
In less than half the playing time, Quinton Dunbar doubled Fabian Moreau’s statistical output. The hype was buzzing around Dunbar last summer, but at that point, it wasn’t known if he could handle a full-time starting role.
Now, we know he can do more. He can excel in such a role.
Dunbar only played seven games in the 2018 season, and his final game, against the Dallas Cowboys, shouldn’t even be counted. He should have never suited up for that contest, as he was still battling a nerve issue in his ankle, and looked nothing like himself.
The contrast was only so clear because Dunbar, when he was healthy, was the best cornerback on the team.
Logging two interceptions and seven pass deflections in seven games, Dunbar proved what many had hoped: That his receiver-like combination of length, speed, and hands would benefit him at the cornerback position. Miscommunication with the safeties was a concern for Dunbar, especially against the Panthers, where that miscommunication led to two end zone trips. But Dunbar disrupted the quarterback-receiver connection better than any Redskins cornerback. With any luck, the soon-to-be 27-year old can come back at full health in 2019, and continue trending up.
