1. player. 124. . EDGE. Chiefs. Dee Ford

It would certainly take a number of cap casualties for the Redskins to be able to sign Kansas City Chiefs edge rusher Dee Ford, but it would be very worth the risk.

Ford broke out with the Chiefs in 2018, logging 13.0 sacks and a whopping seven forced fumbles in sixteen full games. Per Pro Football Focus, Ford accrued 83 pressures on 589 pass rushing snaps, good for a pass rush productivity rating of 14.1, which comfortably eclipses all Redskins edge rushers.

Ford might not even become available for the Redskins; the Chiefs could slap the franchise tag on the soon-to-be 28-year old. But if he does enter the market, the Redskins could swap him with Preston Smith.

While Smith provides value as a well-rounded edge defender, Ford’s presence as a quick, tenacious pass rusher is something the Redskins can gain from.
