Washington Redskins 2018 season offensive line grades

Geron Christian
It’s too soon to judge the Redskins 2018 draft class, and a two-game sample is far too small to make an end-all judgement. But early indicators for their third-round pick, Geron Christian, aren’t promising.
Christian was selected with the No. 74 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. At the time, people knew he was a bit lacking, in terms of strength, but that he had the athleticism and length to warrant a higher pick.
It wasn’t known just how lacking in strength Christian was, until he lined up across from NFL talent, at left tackle. In two game appearances as a blindside blocker, Christian was observably overmatched. He had some good reps, reps where his potential flashed, but they were ultimately overshadowed by his miscues, where his lack of polish showed. It would not be long before his season ended, at the hands of a torn MCL.
Christian is still just 22 years old, and with Trent Williams in the locker room to help him grow, the book is far from closed in his early NFL career. But in the offseason of 2019, Christian faces an uphill battle, needing to both develop and heal from a torn ACL. Right now, this pick doesn’t look good, and if offensive line coach Bill Callahan leaves, it’ll look even worse.
The worst part? Nine picks after Washington selected Christian, the Baltimore Ravens selected Orlando Brown. He’s now a starter.
