2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: 3 QBs go in the top 10, Redskins land defensive stud
Dwayne Haskins is going to be tied to the Giants for a majority of the draft process. The Giants need a new quarterback, as they have a solid team that is hamstrung by Eli Manning, and Haskins is the best quarterback in this class.
Haskins only has one year of starting experience at Ohio State, but that won’t stop him from being the top QB taken in this class. It didn’t stop Mitchell Trubisky, and it certainly won’t stop Haskins. And this is especially true because Haskins put up prolific numbers in his lone season as the starter.
In 2018, Haskins was a force for the Buckeyes. He threw for over 4,800 yards and a ridiculous 50 touchdowns. He flashed great accuracy and ball placement ability, and if he can continue to showcase that at the NFL level, he will be a solid passer at the NFL level.

Of course, there are concerns with Haskins. The first is that he is, on occasion, slightly off in terms of his accuracy and that can impact his ability to get the ball to his playmakers. In certain outings, Haskins missed his receivers slightly high, and they were unable to make plays on the ball as a result. That can’t continue at the NFL level, and if Haskins continues to miss high, that will create opportunities for interceptions.
The second problem is that Haskins only has 14 starts during his career. That’s a small sample size, and despite his success, he is still raw as a prospect. That said, declaring for the draft was the right move, as a return to school could have caused his stock to plummet in a Cardale Jones-esque fashion.
For the next level, Haskins is reminiscent of Jameis Winston, though his mobility is more similar to that of Ben Roethlisberger. Haskins has the talent and skill set needed to be a franchise quarterback, but he might need some time to develop. Either way, Haskins would be an upgrade over Manning for the Giants, so expect them to pull the trigger on him (or trade up to land him).
