Quarterback. Oklahoma. Kyler Murray. 32. player. 49.

To be abundantly clear, I don’t think that the Packers will take Kyler Murray here. That said, I do think it is well within the realm of possibility that the Packers, who acquired this pick from the Saints, could sell it to the highest bidder on draft night so a team can move up to take Murray.

Murray is going to be one of the most polarizing players in this draft class. He looks like a Russell Wilson clone on the field, but he’s even smaller than the diminutive Seahawks passer. At 5-foot-10, or possibly even 5-foot-9, Murray is going to have a tough time quelling the concerns about his height as he looks to become a true NFL quarterback.

That said, Murray still has the arm talent and playmaking ability that teams are looking for in modern quarterbacks. If Murray could add a bit of muscle, that would take away at least some concerns about his durability. It may not be enough for him to get to the upper part of the first round, but like Lamar Jackson, he could go at the end of Round 1 to a quarterback-needy team willing to trade up.

If the Packers keep this pick, they will probably target a defensive back (like Johnathan Abram) or a receiver (Marquise Brown and Parris Campbell stand out as top options). But, they are in prime position to trade and could pick up some assets if they move down.

Teams that could move up to target Murray include the Redskins, Dolphins, and maybe even the Cardinals (if they were to try and trade Josh Rosen). Still, this is highly speculative for now, and Murray going in Round 1 is no sure thing. But as we’ve seen time and time again, quarterbacks go early, even when there are concerns surrounding them.
