28. . Wide Receiver. Ole Miss. A.J. Brown. 24. player

It’s funny that the Raiders are using their two first-round picks to attempt to replace players that they traded away. Of course, you can always view this through the lens that the Raiders are getting cost-controlled players for guys that would have otherwise had to sign massive extensions, but I digress.

The Raiders need to add some help at receiver. Trading Amari Cooper and losing Martinis Bryant has left them thin in the receiving corps. Marcell Ateman showed some upside last season, but he’s still just a former seventh-round pick that looks more like a big, jump-ball receiver. They need someone who might be capable of becoming a true No. 1 guy.

A.J. Brown just might fit the bill.

More from Commanders Draft News

Brown was a part of the excellent Ole Miss receiving corps, and he is a strong all-around player. He is coming off back-to-back seasons with at least 1,250 yards and he has put up 17 scores over the past two seasons as well.

Despite being the focus of most SEC defensive backs this year, Brown had a solid season overall. He posted six 100-plus yard games and went on a tear after the team lost D.K. Metcalf. At 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, Brown has the size needed to be a solid all-around player. And his athletic ability is good as well.

Brown could easily go in the teens, so this is a great value pick by the Raiders. Brown can become Derek Carr’s No. 1 weapon, and it will be interesting to see if the duo can develop more chemistry than Cooper and Carr had together.
