2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: 3 QBs go in the top 10, Redskins land defensive stud
The Seahawks vastly outperformed expectations this year and made it to the playoffs in what was a great coaching job by Pete Carroll. As long as Russell Wilson is the team’s quarterback and they can field a good run game, they should be in position to compete in the NFC.
That said, the team still does have one major hole on the offensive side of the ball. That’s at the tight end position. Will Dissly looked good to start last season, but the rookie tore his patellar tendon. That’s a tough injury to come back from at the NFL level, so it’s tough to recommend relying on him as a top option.
Meanwhile, Nick Vannett and Ed Dickson are merely solid backups. The team needs a real receiving threat and red-zone weapon like they had when Jimmy Graham was in town. Albert Okwuegbunam could fit the bill.
Noah Fant would be a solid addition to the Seahawks TE corps. In 24 games played in the past two season, he has 18 touchdowns. He has an athletic, 6-foot-5 frame and should have the ability to work the middle of the field in the NFL. And in the red-zone, he could be one of the league’s best.
Fant should be the top tight end off the board, especially since Albert Okwuegbunam went back to school. Irv Smith Jr. will be another option to consider, but for now, Fant is the cream of the crop at tight end.
