Washington Redskins 2018 season wide receiver grades

Jamison Crowder
In a contract year, Jamison Crowder could have proven that he deserved a new deal. Instead, he’ll head into 2018 at his peak uncertainty.
In his first three seasons with the Redskins, Crowder was a consistently reliable weapon in the slot, averaging 64 catches per season. In 2018, his numbers dropped wildly. He finished the season having played in just nine games, amassing 29 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
If you were to project Crowder’s stats over a sixteen game season, you’d see a slight dip in production, which is understandable, given the quarterback woes of the 2018 Redskins. But when on the field, Crowder himself wasn’t as sturdy as he’s been in the past. In Week 17, he caught just one of eight targets, and he finished the season with a career low 59.2 catch percentage.
Crowder’s fate in 2019 remains unknown. It’s a decision that truly could be made with the flip of a coin. On one hand, Crowder’s consistency, aside from 2018, has not waned in Washington. But on the flip side, he might not be affordable, if teams take his earlier seasons into account. Only one thing is clear: Crowder did not do enough, or do too little, to make this decision easy.
