Washington Redskins 2018 season wide receiver grades

Trey Quinn
A+.
Just kidding. Kind of.
Just one pick away from being an undrafted free agent, Trey Quinn made his opportunity with the Washington Redskins count in 2018. Many of the Redskins receivers suffered from injury in 2018, and Quinn is no different, but when he was on the field, he gave fans reason to be excited for his future.
That said, Quinn didn’t even make it onto the field as a receiver until Week 11; up until that point, he was sidelined with an ankle sprain suffered on a punt return against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. He spent the time in-between on injured reserve with Cam Sims, and when the time came to look for more receiver depth, Washington designated Quinn to return.
In Quinn’s first game back, he put up a solid effort, catching all four of his targets for 49 yards against the Houston Texans. The next week, he was a reliable target for Colt McCoy, catching five of six targets for 29 yards and a key touchdown (The Redskins would go on to lose to the Cowboys, 23-31, but Quinn’s touchdown gave Washington a 14-10 lead). And that was after a 30-yard punt return by Quinn.
Quinn would ultimately be placed on injured reserve after that game, but his rookie season provided room for optimism. In two games, Quinn caught nine of ten targets for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Quinn is clearly a capable route runner whose hands are very reliable, but in the future, he needs to find a way to stay on the field. If the Redskins decide to move on from Jamison Crowder, in favor of Quinn (A risky proposition in its own right), then Quinn will have a sudden uptick in work.
Overall? A solid “B”. And a half-grade increase for having the best touchdown celebration in NFL history.
