No. 1 – Reality Is, Josh Johnson was very Alex Smith-like in Jacksonville

Watching Josh Johnson celebrate after Dustin Hopkins‘ last-second field goal last week was the type of thing that keeps us all coming back. What a feel-good story. But this is a week-to-week league, and fans will certainly start to lose those good feelings if Johnson struggles on Saturday.

The interesting thing about Johnson’s performance was that it was extremely similar to some wins that Smith led the team to earlier in the year. He didn’t turn the ball over, he threw for 151 yards and one touchdown, and he ran for another 49.

The Redskins won six games with Alex Smith using that same basic formula. If Johnson can put up similar numbers this week in Tennessee, Redskins fans should be extremely happy with his effort. I think it’s likely that Johnson turns the ball over at least once against Tennessee, but otherwise, there’s no reason to think he can’t put together a largely similar performance against Tennessee. Jacksonville has a top-tier defense, after all.
