Redskins vs. Giants, part two: 5 Keys to Victory in Week 14

4. Redskins’ pass rush must have an encore performance from their first matchup
The Redskins’ pass rush was in the backfield almost the entire afternoon in their first matchup against the Giants, as they had seven sacks on the day. Eli Manning was constantly getting pressured and had little time go through his progressions and pick a target.
Matt Ioannidis had a career day with 2.5 sacks, but he is one player the Redskins might be without this game as he battles a shin injury. If he can’t go, Tim Settle should fill the void. Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith must have big games and apply solid pressure from the edge.
Eli Manning has still shown that when he has time go through his progressions and pick his targets, he can still make the throws needed to win games. If the Redskins’ pass rush can get in the backfield again and sack Manning or force him to make some quick throws, they will be in excellent shape.
The Giants have been playing much better football on the offensive side lately, especially on the line. The Redskins must win the trenches. If they cannot get to Manning this time and he has time in the pocket, the Redskins’ will be in a difficult position to win the game.
