No. 2 – Redskins must make a strong commitment to the running game

Make no mistake about it, this one is not going to be easy after the laundry list of injuries this team has sustained along the offensive side of the ball.

With backups to backups starting in some places, there is just not a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball at the moment. With their third quarterback and an extremely banged up offensive line, the Giants will be keying in on Adrian Peterson.

On one incredible run Monday night, Adrian Peterson broke one for 90 yards in what will be one of the most iconic plays of the season. Incredibly, even with a 90-yard run, Peterson was unable to crack 100 yards, as he finished with 98 yards on just nine carries.

The Redskins must find a way to get Adrian Peterson more involved this game and get him at least 15 carries, if not more. Nine carries are not going to be enough. Peterson gets stronger as the game goes on, with the more touches he gets, so Gruden cannot abandon the run if he gets down early. He must stay committed to getting the run game going.

Peterson had his best game of the season earlier against the Giants, when he carried 26 times for 149 yards. He also scored twice. Getting a repeat performance from Peterson is pivotal if the Redskins are going to win the game.
