1. QB Mark Sanchez

I mean, I don’t want this to be the top guy to watch. But, the fact of the matter is that as long as Sanchez is the starter, he will be a player to watch.

Nobody could have seen two quarterback injuries coming. Nobody expected that the Redskins would be down to their third-string option in the middle of a playoff race in December. And surely, nobody thought the third option would be Sanchez. But alas, this is where the Redskins find themselves. And now, Sanchez will have to step up.

Sanchez actually looked good at times against the Eagles. He had a couple of awful mistakes, including a pick and then a lofted pass that should almost certainly have been intercepted, but he ran a nice two-minute drill at one point. With a bit more time in the offense, perhaps he could take advantage of the short passing game and at least move the ball a bit. If he can keep the team competitive, that’s all the ‘Skins can ask for.

At this point, there is little hope for the Redskins season. But if they’re going to get any sort of spark, Sanchez will have to be at least functional in the offense. His big test will come on Sunday in what would normally be considered a winnable game against the Giants. We’ll see how he does. While nobody is expecting much from him, it will be interesting to see if he can keep the team in the game.
