No. 4 – RB Adrian Peterson

Even before Washington’s starting quarterback went down with a season-ending injury, the offense was predicated on the running game. Now, with Colt McCoy filling in, Adrian Peterson will need to play his best football yet.

This far into the season, to improve on his current level of production would be odds-defying for 33-year old Adrian Peterson. But in 2018, Peterson has made a living off of beating the odds. He was signed late in the offseason, when no one but Washington wanted him. And now, he’s No. 7 in the NFL in rushing yardage, with 723 yards through ten games.

When Peterson was on, the Redskins’ efficient, time-consuming offense was at its peak, keeping the opposing offense off the field, while tiring the opposing defense. Now, with Colt McCoy, the propensity for turnovers could very well increase. In tumultuous times, it’s up to Peterson to be the lone constant.

It won’t be easy for Peterson; he’s missing multiple starting offensive linemen, and his style of rushing is slowly becoming outdated. But the 33-year old Peterson feels better than he ever has. He needs to keep producing, for the sake of the Redskins’ playoff hopes.
