Redskins vs. Texans: 5 keys to victory in Week 11 matchup
By Kyle Hundley
No. 5 – Redskins must get some production from Maurice Harris and the passing game
Over the last couple of weeks, Maurice Harris has started to carve himself out a more prominent role in the offense, with a 100-yard game against Atlanta followed by a solid five-catch performance against the Buccaneers last week.
Through nine games, it is no secret that the Redskins have not gotten a lot of productivity from their receivers. But, it appears like Harris and Alex Smith are starting to develop some chemistry together. Smith is starting to trust Harris more, as it seems like he catches everything thrown his way. He is not quite as dynamic after the catch as some other receivers are, but if he can make a few catches and help move the chains a couple of times, it will force the Texans’ defense to respect the passing game and not load the box.
The Redskins are still a run-first team, so they must get some help in the passing game to make it easier for Adrian Peterson. Their run defense is stout, so Gruden has to find ways to open it up so Peterson can get some lanes to run through. If they can get some production from Harris and their receivers while Crowder is still out, they will put themselves in an excellent position to win this game.
