Redskins vs. Texans: 5 keys to victory in Week 11 matchup
By Kyle Hundley
No. 4 – Redskins must be opportunistic with turnovers
The Buccaneers’ offense had over 500 yards, 29 first downs, and averaged 7.5 yards per play Sunday. But the only two numbers that ultimately mattered were three points and four turnovers.
The Redskins have been outstanding all season at winning the turnover battle, currently sitting at +11 through nine games, which is third in the league. It is also the biggest reason why they are 6-3 and not 3-6. Greg Manusky did an outstanding job of game planning by taking away the deep stuff and making Fitzpatrick routinely go underneath until he made a mistake, then having the defense in the right position to capitalize on it, which they did.
Manusky must have another great game plan put in place this week as Watson is one of the promising young quarterbacks in the league. As electric as he is, he can be turnover prone, as he has thrown an interception in six games this year.
The Redskins’ defense must be ready this week to make a play when Watson makes a mistake. If they can be opportunistic and force a couple of turnovers again while Alex Smith has another turnover-free game, they have a great chance to win this game.
