No. 3 – Redskins must limit what Deshaun Watson does with his legs

The Redskins have been solid against the run much of the entire season. There were a couple of pass-rushing instances against Tampa Bay where, when they did get pressure, they let Ryan Fitzpatrick escape and make a couple of plays with his legs. Maintaining the gap with the pass rush will be vital so Watson cannot escape.

This season, Deshaun Watson is currently fourth among quarterbacks in rushing with 268 yards. He is much faster and more elusive than most quarterbacks and can make teams pay with his legs.

The Redskins’ defensive line must not allow for Watson to escape the pocket and make those plays with his legs. The defense has been taken advantage of the last two weeks on third down. This is one area they can improve, and they must be better this week. Watson must not be allowed to extend drives with his legs, as Houston is too good of a team to be given extra opportunities on drives.
