1. QB Sam Bradford

This is the obvious fit. Bradford has fizzled out as a starter for all four NFL teams he has played for, but he has a boatload of starting experience. In the event that McCoy was to get hurt, Bradford could be entrusted to potentially lead the offense and will still have a chance to win some games — provided that he shows more awareness than he had in Arizona.

It’s also notable that Bradford has a previous relationship with McCoy. The two were a couple of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12 when they were in college, and they forged a friendship during that time. A reunion would make sense, as McCoy could help him to learn the offense quickly and get him up to speed as a backup.

Simply put, at this point in the season, there are few quarterbacks available that have significant starting experience. Bradford has that. He has started 83 career games and at times, he has been able to lead teams to victory. He even led the NFL in completion percentage once.

Sure, he has injury concerns and can struggle at times to move the ball, but all the options available will have the latter issue. At this point, Bradford is just the safest option that could have a legitimate chance to save the season if McCoy faltered. Of course, this also depends on whether or not Bradford’s knee is healthy. If it isn’t, he won’t garner consideration.

We’ll see if Bradford works out for the ‘Skins. As of right now, he doesn’t appear to be in their plans, but that could change. And realistically, it should change if they want a chance to compete at quarterback and have a legitimate insurance policy for McCoy.
