Score prediction

This game has the makings of a defensive struggle. Both teams will be able to win in the trenches on defense, and that could cause the early stages of the game to be choppy and there could be a lot of three and outs. That could set up a low-scoring battle and the teams may not combine for more than 10 by the half.

In the coaching battle, Jay Gruden and Bill O’Brien are fairly evenly matched. O’Brien has some more questionable in-game decision making, but the fact is that he does have his team on a six-game winning streak. And coming off a bye, he should have had enough time to prepare for the Redskins. It will be telling if the Texans come out strong early, and if that happens, they should have the edge.

At the end of the day, this is a game that feels like it should be decided by a field goal or less. And it doesn’t seem like either team will reach 20 points. So, the question is, which defense is better suited to win in a key game?

This week, I think I’ll take the Texans. They just have the better offensive weaponry and should be able to move the ball better than the Redskins. They will squeak out a close road win and keep the NFC East competitive with the ‘Skins still on top of the division at 6-4.
