Greg Stroman has been in and out of the lineup in recent weeks. He has been helping to fill in for the injured Quinton Dunbar, but he has had his share of struggles. That had prompted the coaching staff to mix Danny Johnson into the lineup more, but he and Stroman split time on Sunday.

That said, Stroman performed well when on the field. He was far from perfect, but he showed great instincts when he notched the first interception of his career. He was able to read the play well and jumped the route on a pass intended for O.J. Howard. By undercutting the route, he put himself in position to make the key pick.

Even better, after notching the interception, Stroman was able to have a quality return and put the offense in position to scorer. At this point in the game with the Redskins clinging onto a 10-point lead, this was a major play that helped to swing momentum in their favor and was one of the key turnovers.

Stroman still has some room for improvement moving forward, but this was definitely a step in the right direction. He looked more comfortable in coverage and was able to show some of the ability that made him a seventh-round pick. As he gets more playing time, he should continue to improve. And again, while he was far from perfect in coverage, the fact that he made a splash play was big and should give him a chance to retain the role as the top backup moving forward.

It will be interesting to see if Stroman continues to start as long as Dunbar is out. He and Johnson will continue to duke it out for the spot, but that key interception should give Stroman a slight edge. Congrats to him for getting his first career pick.
