No. 1 – Redskins must continue to get Josh Doctson involved in the offense

Jay Gruden called one of his better games offensively this season against the Giants, mixing up both the run and pass as well as using lots of misdirection early on in the game. He also did an excellent job getting some pass plays dialed up for his targets on the outside.

Josh Doctson has played much better the last couple weeks and had his best game of the season against the Giants, making some big blocks in the run game as well as catching all five of his targets for 49 yards.

While it is not elite production, getting at least some production from the outside will undoubtedly help build Alex Smith‘s confidence in his weapons. Smith is starting to trust Doctson more as he used his big frame to make some contested catches the last few games. When you are making these tough catches, coaches will want to go back to you, so expect Gruden to call a few more plays for him against a banged up Atlanta secondary.
