5 bold predictions for Redskins vs. Falcons in NFL Week 9
1. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix logs five tackles, one pick in Redskins debut
The stat line here isn’t necessarily a typical bold prediction. But here’s the truth. If Clinton-Dix can post those kinds of numbers in his Redskins debut, his coaches, teammates, and fans alike will be very happy.
Clinton-Dix can be a playmaker, as he has shown this season. He has grabbed three picks and while he has given up some plays while trying to make splash plays, the team can live with that provided that he can make one of those big plays.
The Falcons should be passing enough for the ‘Skins secondary to have a chance at making some plays. Quinton Dunbar is also returning from injury, so his addition and that of Clinton-Dix could make it hard for Matt Ryan to find any space in the secondary. That may cause him to target one of the weaker links, and that may be Clinton-Dix, solely because he just joined the team on Tuesday.
If Clinton-Dix is targeted early and often, it will be a good test for him, and it should give ‘Skins fans a barometer of what to expect from him for the rest of the season. But if he can be a functional tackler and log a pick in his first game after just a few practices to integrate into the defense, that will be great news for the team.
