No. 2 – RG Brandon Scherff

Adrian Peterson will get plenty of praise for his performance on Sunday, and rightfully so; he finished the game against the Giants with 149 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.

That said, 64 of those yards came on one scoring play, a scoring play that was only made possible by a key lead block, executed by none other than the Washington Redskins’ stalwart right guard, Brandon Scherff.

Chase Roullier and Brandon Scherff both split out into space early on the play, and the two combined forces to plow open a lane for Adrian Peterson. When a defender threatened to cut back into that lane, Scherff shut the door, and Peterson sprinted for the end zone.

Scherff has not-so-quietly been one of the best offensive guards in football since he entered the league as a top five pick in 2015. Jay Gruden, after the game, proclaimed Scherff as the best pulling guard in all of football, and after Sunday’s showing, it’s tough to argue with him.
