3. RBs Adrian Peterson and Kapri Bibbs

Okay, I’m already cheating off the bat by nominating two players at one position. But to anyone who watched this game, it was abundantly clear that these two players were the Redskins offense and they were the reason the team was able to score points.

Peterson was his usual self on Sunday. Well, the Peterson that we’re used to seeing in Redskins wins. AP was able to notch 99 yards on 24 carries, and he had numerous excellent runs. He did well to avoid tacklers and made a few great cutbacks that allowed him to find a lot of space and generate extra yardage. Few backs, if any, have the elusive moves that Peterson put on display on Sunday.

The only thing missing from Peterson’s effort was a score. He almost notched one near the goal-line, but his blockers weren’t able to get the job done. Still, Peterson was the engine that helped move the offense. He generated yardage and even though he didn’t score, he had a massive impact on the field position battle. And for that, he deserves praise.

Elsewhere, with Chris Thompson out, Kapri Bibbs played a bigger role for the squad, and he didn’t disappoint. Bibbs was the team’s leading receiver — granted, the team’s top two receivers and Thompson were out — but Bibbs showed solid ability and continues to be one of the best players off screens on the Redskins team.

On the first score of the game, Bibbs took a 23-yard screen pass into the end zone. He showed great patience as he waited for his blocks to developed and simply was able to jog into the end zone without being touched much. Bibbs’ career highlights have all come off screens, so perhaps the team should look to get him the ball in those circumstances more. After all, his catch led to the team’s only offensive TD, so it’s obvious that he can be a functional weapon.

Without the running back performances, the Redskins would have been lost. They combined to total 163 of the team’s 305 total yards and really carried them to victory. That appears to be the winning formula for the ‘Skins, so hopefully, that continues.
