5. Paul Richardson notches a 50-plus yard TD catch

This is something that is certainly within the realm of possibility. However, it’s also possible that Richardson could draw Marshon Lattimore in coverage for most of the afternoon, so that could limit his upside.

At the same time, Richardson was emerging as Alex Smith‘s preferred receiver to start the 2018 campaign. Sure, he still takes a back-seat to the RBs and TEs on the roster, as Smith prefers to work the middle of the field, but Richardson was seeing a fair amount of targets and caught a 46-yard TD against the Packers. So, those were some encouraging signs.

Despite the volume of targets compared to other wide receivers, it still doesn’t seem like Richardson is going to be a high-volume player. He’s more of an explosive playmaker type who can rip off huge chunk plays and have an impact, much like he did against the Packers.

In the matchup with the Saints, Richardson is going to have a chance to break another long play. Sure, he will likely go against Lattimore for most of the game. But all it takes is one really good route to beat even an elite corner. And the possibility that Richardson could play a bit against some of the weaker corners on the Saints roster makes it even more probable that he could break a long play.

At the end of the day, we’re not expecting massive numbers from Richardson, but seeing him notch another long TD wouldn’t be a surprise. If he’s able to do that, we’re predicting that it will go for over 50 yards. Perhaps that will do enough to spark the Redskins offense and get them going in the right direction.
