No. 4 – FS D.J. Swearinger

The vocal leader of the Redskins Flight Marshals has been the best defensive back for Washington this year. Through three weeks, D.J. Swearinger already has two interceptions, and he’s Pro Football Focus’ fourth best NFL safety, with a grade of 89.9.

Swearinger has been electric so far in 2018, but the team hasn’t faced an offense reminiscent of the one they’ll play in the bayou on Monday.

The Saints’ offense is a unit with almost too weapons to count. The Redskins match up fairly well with any team, but they’ll need to get standout performances from their best players in order to shut down Drew Brees.

That’s where Swearinger comes in. He’s had a solid year this far, legitimizing the contract he received last offseason. Against the Saints, he’ll have a chance to make more money. If he can provide good coverage and run support, a win would be a little easier to come by.
