Week 9 – Redskins vs. Falcons

This is an intriguing matchup.

Before the season, I would have given this to the Falcons without much thought. I pegged them as a playoff team early, and even now, they still have enough pieces to compete.

That said, the defense has taken major hit after major hit from injury; Standout starters like Keanu Neal, Deion Jones, and Ricardo Allen are all lost for the season, and the team’s interior defensive line isn’t much, aside from Grady Jarrett.

By this point, the Redskins will be in their sweet spot. The offense will have undergone some further development, and the wear of the early bye week will not have reached them quite yet. Alex Smith will show off some of his accuracy in a shootout, Adrian Peterson will be able to run the ball, and the Redskins will come out on top, courtesy of a short-staffed Falcons defense.

Final Score: WAS 34, ATL 31

Record: 5-3
