Week 5 – Redskins at Saints

The Redskins will be looking for redemption in this matchup after losing a five-quarter thriller to the Saints last year in the Super Dome. The Redskins had a 31-16 lead late in the fourth quarter, only to let New Orleans force the game to overtime.

This year, the Saints bring back much of the offensive firepower that drove the late game comeback. Drew Brees is still playing at a high level, just 200 yards from becoming the NFL’s all-time leading passer. Alvin Kamara has been electric so far this season, and his running mate Mark Ingram comes back from suspension this week.

The Saints’ defense has gotten off to a slow start, with bad play and injuries plaguing the secondary. That said, I don’t quite trust the Redskins to stick with Brees and Co. in an offensive shootout. As the year progresses, Alex Smith may fare better in similar matchups. But the Saints will come out on top in this one. Despite the stingy performance of the Redskins defense thus far, New Orleans is a test that will humble them.

Final Score: WAS 26, NO 31

Record: 2-2
