3. WR Jamison Crowder

You really could have picked a couple of guys from the Washington receiving corps. Paul Richardson finally showed the deep speed that many hoped to see when the organization signed him. Jordan Reed once again performed well in the middle of the field and was able to post four catches and 65 yards. That said, I really liked what I saw out of Jamison Crowder on Sunday.

Crowder had been extremely quiet in the first two games for the Redskins. He really didn’t make much of an impact and despite reports of a strong rapport with Alex Smith, nothing really ended up happening. It was somewhat similar to his start last season when Crowder was unable to get anything going with Kirk Cousins and his struggles plagued him throughout the year.

However, against the Packers, Crowder made an impact. He tied for the team-high in catches with four. He had 39 receiving yards and had a nice TD grab. He ran a solid route and while Smith was able to put the ball into a very tight window that made the play possible, he secured it well and took contact en route to the end zone.

Crowder demonstrated a bit more toughness than we had seen early in the season. He showcased what he can do when working the middle of the field. He was also given opportunities, which wasn’t exactly the case in the first two weeks. That alone was a good sign, as it seems that Crowder needs to be one of the top receivers for the squad as he best suits what Smith is capable of doing.

I know that Crowder’s stat line may not look like anything great. But the fact of the matter is that he stepped up in a crucial game for the Redskins. Heading into the bye week, the Redskins now have a 2-1 record, and Crowder’s ability to find open space across the field was a part of that success on Sunday.
