1. Expose the Colts defense with Alex Smith’s accuracy

The fact is that the Colts have very little talent on their defense overall. Their best player is arguably Malik Hooker, and he’s just in his second season. Generally speaking, the Colts defense is packed with young, athletic, upside-based players. They don’t have a proven track record of success yet.

Meanwhile, Alex Smith is entering his 13th year in the NFL. Though it’s just his first with the Redskins, he’s a savvy veteran who knows exactly how to pick apart defenses. Against a weak secondary with a plethora of weapons at his disposal, the ‘Skins have an advantage. And they have to realize this.

Smith is at his best when he’s able to spread the ball around to multiple weapons. The Redskins offense affords him an opportunity to do that, as they have weapons including Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson, Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson, and Paul Richardson. Though Richardson may not play in Week 2, the Redskins still have more than enough talent for Smith to work with. And against the Colts weak defense, he should have a chance to put up huge numbers.

Next. Should the Redskins go after Josh Gordon?. dark

If the Colts defense looks as leaky as it did in Week 1 vs. the Bengals, the Redskins should be able to put up 30 points easily. And if they score that much, they should have a very good chance to emerge victorious. A path to victory on Sunday seems more than attainable, so hopefully, the Redskins can execute in these three key aspects and make it a reality.
