Harris was unable to play in the first game of the season due to a concussion. However, he was back at practice early this week, so it seems possible that he might see the field in Week 2.

Harris had an excellent training camp and preseason, and that allowed him to win the No. 4 receiver job. Many considered Harris to be a roster afterthought coming into the preseason, but he did a lot to prove that he deserved a spot on the roster. Now, we will get a chance to see him in action.

With Trey Quinn and Cam Sims now on IR, Harris seems likely to split backup reps with the recently re-signed Brian Quick. However, Harris will probably see a bit more run considering that the coaching staff envisioned him as the top backup during roster cuts.

Against a weak Colts secondary, Harris could have a chance to do some damage. The Redskins like to spread the ball around and tend to target the receivers that have the best matchup. Because of his excellent route running ability and size, Harris could get open when he’s on the field and that would force Alex Smith to look his way frequently. And if the Colts are more focused on the other weapons the Redskins have, that could make Harris a forgotten man.

No matter what, Harris is an intriguing player to watch in Week 2. He’s returning from a concussion, so it will be important to see how healthy he looks. It will also be his first real chance to work as the No. 4 receiver with Smith at QB, so that should be a nice test for him too. How he fits in this role will be critical, especially after the Redskins lost some depth at the receiver position.
