LB Jerod Fernandez

Fernandez was cut by the Redskins, but there’s a chance that the linebacker could find a home on the practice squad.

Fernandez showed big-hitting ability during the preseason and has some special teams ability. In addition to this, he was the only Redskins player that had multiple in the preseason. Unfortunately, Fernandez never had much of a chance to make the roster as the team’s linebacker corps was already solid once he was added.

Still, Fernandez carries value as a potential special teams player. And with more development, he has the upside to be a role player at the linebacker position. That’s why he’s a good fit on the practice squad, and he figures to make be available after waivers.

Fernandez may not see time on the active roster, but he’s the type of hard-hitting guy who can bring some intensity to the practice squad. For now, he figures to be a good fit as a member of this unit.
