OLB Vontae Diggs

Diggs looked very good in the first couple of preseason games and flashed really good athleticism throughout the year. He was a stretch to make the active roster, but like Robertson, he has special teams potential and upside.

Keeping Diggs on the practice squad might seem redundant with Robertson there too, but the team really doesn’t have a lot of depth on the edge. They should try to keep a couple of potential-packed guys who could play a role if called up to the practice squad.

It’s also worth noting that ESPN’s John Keim noted that there had been some interest in bringing in Diggs as a practice squad guy. Now, he’s not guaranteed a spot, but it at least demonstrates that the Redskins have an interest in keeping him around after a solid preseason.

There’s no reason that Diggs shouldn’t garner consideration for the practice squad and with some development, he could become a potential backup. At the very least, keeping extra depth at a thin position seems like a quality move by the Redskins, so expect them to try and keep Diggs in the fold (or at least strongly consider it).
