1. The offensive line must play well

The offensive line often gets overlooked when analyzing team performance. But there’s no question that the performance of the offensive line can have a major impact on a team’s chance to win a game.

With the Redskins facing the formidable edge unit of Von Miller, Shane Ray, and Shaquil Barrett, the team is going to have to get good performances out of their top tackles for this contest. It’s unclear whether or not Trent Williams and Morgan Moses will play, but if either doesn’t, the team is certainly going to have their hands full dealing with the pressure.

If the O-line can do their job in the passing game and can help to open up running lanes for the backs in action, the Redskins will have a very good chance to emerge victorious in this contest. Their offense was moving well in the first two preseason games, and with solid protection, they should be able to keep that momentum going once again. If the team is set on playing Alex Smith for a full half of the game, they will certainly have a very good chance to lead a couple of TD drive if they can get him enough time in the pocket.
