Darkwa isn’t the most inspiring name on this list, but it’s also possible that he could be terms of talent, fit, and availability.

Darkwa is coming off the best season of his career with the New York Giants. In 2017 as a part-time starter, Darkwa was able to total 751 yards and five touchdowns on just 171 carries. He averaged a career-best 4.4 yards per carry and proved that he could be a viable part of a running back rotation.

That said, Darkwa has remained unsigned and hasn’t received much interest. He recently worked out for the Buffalo Bills, who have a big need at backup running back, but they didn’t end up signing him. The fact that he’s still on the market demonstrates that teams might not view him as anything more than a potential rotational guy. Either that or his price might just be too high.

For the Redskins, Darkwa would get the early-downs work as a starter and cede snaps to Chris Thompson on passing downs. It’s also possible that Perine or Kelley would be worked in as the goal-line back, though Darkwa is a capable red zone threat.

Darkwa has a bit of a varied skill set, as he can catch passes in certain circumstances, but he still doesn’t represent much more than a lateral move. So, the Redskins don’t seem likely to go after him barring an unforeseen development.
